It's possible to use an adaptor (see in link below) as this is so short and of low resistance it won’t affect the way the cable works all that much and in low current source component applications its mainly the RF shielding (XT5) which is the benefit.


Our research concluded that high end kit uses mainly C13 or C17 (IEC inlet). Hifi components which benefit most from cables such as this tend to be amplifiers because they draw more current from the wall. Amplifiers are usually earthed and therefore require an IEC C13 inlet – even if they are double insulated they usually feature a C17 inlet which requires the same plug. In any case, the outsize nature of high end mains cables such as this mean that the C7 inlet plugs are too small to accommodate such cordage.
